So I am finally back to blogging. This time though, I decided to try sharing with you guys about the restaurants that I will be visiting from this point on.
For my first restaurant review, I will be highlighting Le Petit Soufflé. This restaurant isn’t really new but it was my first time to visit it a while ago. I went there with some of my officemates/friends. We have seen the huge poster of the restaurant along the hallway of SM Megamall before and we have always wanted to try eating their seventeen layer chocolate cake and now, the time has come!
The main theme of this branch is really like a garden. Fake plants decorate the ceiling and the walls of the restaurant. Overall, the ambiance was really cozy and nice for eating and chit-chatting.
We weren’t really sure what to order so it took us a couple of minutes before we decided what to buy. But what surprised us was the fact that some of the items in their menu actually takes 20 to 30 minutes before it could be served. It’s kind of a let down if you only have an hour for your lunch break.
Anyhow, the first thing that was served to us was the Sesame Crusted Tuna Salade (P265). I didn’t get to take a picture though. The serving size was actually more than enough for a person (or maybe I’m really not into salads that’s why I couldn’t tell if it’s more than enough for a person or not). The vegetables seem fresh but since we weren’t really a fan of raw tuna, we actually had to leave the tuna slices out.
The next item that was served to us was LPS Carbonara Souffle (P385). When this was served to us, the first question that popped into our minds was “What is this thing on top?” Seeing the yellow thing on top, we were quite sure that it was an egg yolk. But the white one? We weren’t so sure. Upon seeing our reaction, the waiter who served us the dish told us to mix everything up to make the carbonara creamer. And yes, it actually worked!
So after getting a bite of the carbonara, we pretty much figured out that the whole topping was an egg. The egg white was kind of transformed into a meringue-like thing and surprisingly, it worked well with the dish.
Just Mac and Cheese (P325) was served to us next. Based from the name of the dish, it was actually very cheesy in a way that isn’t over the top kind. The cheesiness was just right for our liking. The mushrooms and the sausage also helped in neutralizing the dish. I’m really not a fan of mushrooms but this has got to be an exception.
We also ordered the Japanese Beef Curry Souffle (P550) as well. It was one of the first dishes that we ordered but unfortunately, it was served to us after thirty minutes or so. Upon seeing the dish, we were all shocked to see how it was served and the fact that the curry was color green. Green food doesn’t really sit well with me and since I’m really not a fan of curry, I didn’t really take a bite of this. But based from my friends’ comments, it was kind of spicy and the souffle blended well with the dish.
And of course, we wouldn’t give up the chance to get a taste of the 17-layer chocolate cake (P285 per slice)! Anyone who loves chocolate wouldn’t think twice in ordering this for dessert. We were actually curious if it really has seventeen layers so before eating, we had to go and count its layers. The cake, despite having seventeen layers of chocolate, isn’t as sweet as we thought it would be. The cake actually sets well in your mouth that you’ll just end up eating bite after bite.
Basically, their serving size is definitely more than enough for a person (if you’re not a heavy eater). All of the dishes that we ordered tasted good. I’m really a pasta person and those that we got did not disappoint.
Would I go back to Le Petit Soufflé? There’s a huge chance that I would. We have to go and try their other dishes too. I haven’t really checked the bakery side of the restaurant and I would love to explore it some other time.
