Queen of the Clueless (Interim Goddess of Love #2) by Mina V. Esguerra
Genre: Fantasy, Romance
Published: February 6, 2013 by Bright Girl Books
If you’ve been feeling neglected by the Goddess of Love lately, don’t worry — Hannah Maquiling, college sophomore, is in training to take over. The Original Goddess is missing, but Hannah is Interim Goddess now, and she should figure out how to solve humanity’s love problems soon. Quin (God of the Sun) is still her mentor, still really hot, but apparently isn’t as honest about his other earthly relationships as she thought. It’s frustrating, and enough to make her check out possibilities with Diego (God of the Sea) and Robbie (Cute Human).
In the meantime, she’s decided to spend some of her precious training time helping to break up a relationship, instead of putting one together. Why? Because the girl in question happens to be her best friend Sol, whose boyfriend is stealing not just from her, but from other people on campus. Sol didn’t exactly summon the Goddess, but this is what power over Love is for, right? Surely it’s not just about matchmaking, but ending doomed relationships too. (Even when it’s not what people want.)
Queen of the Clueless is the book two of the Interim Goddess of Love trilogy. Again, it’s a book written by Mina V. Esguerra. I got this ebook for free (again) since I signed up for something that Ms. Mina promoted through her Twitter. I really can’t remember what that is but I know it’s related to blogging about Asian authors or something like that.
Anyways, like what I’ve said in my book review for Interim Goddess of Love, this story is really different from any other chick lit books. Philippine Mythology is included in this story so there’s a certain kind of twist and kick to the story. It’s still quite amazing how Ms. Mina managed to pull off this kind of story since I think it’s quite difficult to incorporate something historical to a romance novel. Even if there are elements of mythology and history to the story, it really makes the story complete and worth reading.
So in the story, Hannah needs to help her best friend, Sol. Sol thinks that her boyfriend has a problem and she wants Hannah to help her. As the substitute goddess, she wanted to do things her way. Quin, as usual, is not in favor of that and then Diego comes along to help her as well. Sol’s boyfriend, Niel, has something in him that makes Hannah very vulnerable and they can’t figure out what to do. But as the story progresses, revelations will be made and that makes it very interesting.
The teamwork of the gods and goddesses (even with the help of Robbie), makes the characters very admirable. Yes, there may be times that have conflicts and misunderstandings but somehow, they still manage to help each other when somebody needs help. I really love the fact that they come at times that Hannah needs help or guidance.
All in all, the story is amazing. I just wish I have the third book already since it’s really frustrating to guess what might happen next. With all the dreams of Hannah and the things that are happening around her, I just want to know if she would really end up with Quin or Robbie or maybe somebody else. 🙂
